ExtraCare Charitable Trust
ExtraCare Charitable Trust gained planning permission in January 2011 to develop a retirement village on a disused site on the Hagley Road.
The scheme, which is being undertaken in partnership with Birmingham City Council, will provide 240 one and two bedroom apartments for rent and sale.
There will be a village centre that will be a central meeting point for residents and visitors that will have a gym, IT Centre, greenhouse, restaurant, craft room and village hall.
Construction on the 7 acre site has commenced with completion in Spring 2014.
The village will create up to 80 full-time local jobs and provide much-needed high quality housing for the increasing number of local residents aged 55 to over 95 years.
