Leading homebuilder Taylor Wimpey Midlands and leading property developer and investor Calthorpe Estates have joined forces to support an event aimed at making tennis accessible to families across the West Midlands.
The unique partnership is sponsoring the Kids’ Day at the AEGON Classic, taking place on Sunday 10th June at the Edgbaston Priory Club.
The fun starts at 11am and includes tennis clinics, mini tennis competitions with prizes, games with inflatables, tennis ‘freestyle’ sessions, face painting, a BBQ and live music to keep everyone in the party spirit.
With its impressive Highfield Gardens development of mews houses and apartments on the prestigious Calthorpe Estate, Taylor Wimpey Midlands is keen to support local communities where it builds.
Anne Wallace, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey Midlands, explained: “At Taylor Wimpey we take our role within the communities surrounding our developments extremely seriously, which is why we are truly honoured to sponsor the Kids’ Day alongside Calthorpe Estates.
“Enabling children of all ages and backgrounds to get outdoors and sample tennis with celebrated professionals is a once in a lifetime opportunity, so we’re expecting the day to be very well attended.”
Calthorpe Estates has a long term strategy to encourage children to sample and get involved in sports at the impressive sports facilities on the Estate.
Tim Abbotts, Director of Estates for Calthorpe Estates, commented: “£12 million is being invested in new facilities at Edgbaston Priory Tennis Club with £5million backing from the LTA to create a new grass show court and a world class indoor tennis centre. So this is a tremendous opportunity for families to preview and try out the sporting facilities and perhaps discover their hidden talent for tennis.
“The day is free for everyone and aside from all the fun competitions and activities there will be an exhibition match to inspire any budding champions of the future.”
Tournament director, Patrick Hughesman, said “We are really pleased to welcome Taylor Wimpy and Calthorpe Estates on board for Kids’ Day at the AEGON Classic. The day itself will be a great way of encouraging people of all ages from the community to pick up a racket and giving them the opportunity to watch and enjoy world class tennis for free.”
