An emerging urban village
Calthorpe Estates vision was to create a thriving leisure and lifestyle destination in the heart of Edgbaston.
Today that vision is coming to life. Edgbaston Village boasts a mixture of high quality retail, leisure, dining, prime residential and commercial space.
Gastro delights range from Michelin starred Simpsons restaurant, which has recently undergone a complete refurbishment through to award-winning The Edgbaston, an exclusive cocktail bar and boutique hotel, award-winning The High Field gastro pub, through to award-winning El Borracho de Oro Spanish tapas restaurant and bar and The Blue Piano South Asian restaurant.
It has just also seen the opening of The High Field Town House with 12 boutique rooms.
The changing face of Edgbaston Village
This Spring at 16-22 Harborne Road – opposite Morrisons – work started to convert the period properties to four retail units with contemporary interiors. One and two-bedroom premium apartments, for private rental, are being developed above the retail units.
Just around the corner at 10-15 Greenfield Crescent, Calthorpe Estates are also creating six new ground floor retail units, with Grade A offices and premier student apartments above.
Brunning & Price, who have selected Edgbaston Village as the location for their first Birmingham venture, have just started work to transform the old Birmingham Medical Institute (BMI) Conference Centre. The pub located at 36 Harborne Road will be named – ‘The Physician’ and turned into a stylish family wine bar and restaurant.
Elsewhere, on Islington Row, we have created smart, attractive frontages for the 15 retail units in keeping with the distinctive charm of Edgbaston Village, which has attracted a variety of new occupiers.
