UK sandwich shop strengthens its Birmingham base

Hudson and Mortimers

March 2008

One of the city's well known sandwich shop chains, Hudson and Mortimers, has chosen to strengthen its Birmingham base in the heart of Edgbaston.

This week, Hudson and Mortimers opened the doors of its sixth shop at 8a Greenfield Crescent, located on the prestigious Calthorpe Estate.

The flagship shop takes the company in a new direction with the introduction of its first sandwich counter, where sandwich combinations will be made to order. The shop will also offer Hudson and Mortimers’ traditional ‘grab and go’ section with freshly prepared, pre-packed sandwiches, crisps and other delights. The shop will provide a wide variety of fresh, local produce and all of its chicken and egg supplies are free range.

Director of Hudson and Mortimers, Tim Healey said: "We are really excited about launching our second shop in Edgbaston. We already have an outlet on Hagley Road and this has proven to be a very busy location. However, with our new shop on the Calthorpe Estate we have taken the opportunity to re-brand and offer something different to our standard service.”

Natasha Walkden, sales and marketing coordinator of Calthorpe Estates, commented: “This is fantastic news for customers in the area. We have brought in Hudson and Mortimers to help replace some of the facilities from Edgbaston Shopping Centre and I’m sure 8a Greenfield Crescent will be a great success!”
