Edgbaston Provides Solution for Clement Keys Growth

Clement Keys

January 2008

Chartered accountants Clement Keys are anticipating a busy New Year as they take on additional office space on the Calthorpe Estate in Edgbaston.

2007 marked the firm reaching the major milestone of over 100 staff thanks to the sustained growth of its portfolio of specialist services. To accommodate the growth, the company is extending into 37/38 Calthorpe Road from its existing premises at 39/40. The additional 6,000 sqft of office space has been redecorated and refurbished to Clement Keys’ specification and the two Grade II listed buildings will be linked via a walkway to ensure easy access between them.

“Back in the spring we contacted Calthorpe Estates to discuss how we might accommodate our growing team. We were keen to stay on the estate so were delighted to discover that the adjacent property was about to become available,” said Clement Keys managing partner Michael Meakin.

“Calthorpe Estates responded with an option that meant we could stay in what is a great location but still continue to expand. I don’t think there could have been a better solution.”

Commenting on the move, Natasha Walkden, sales and marketing co-ordinator at Calthorpe Estates, said: “We value the business of growing organisations like Clement Keys, which has done tremendously since relocating to the estate five years ago.

“We always work hard to meet the needs of new and existing tenants and are delighted that we have been able to accommodate the firm’s expansion and provide a solution to its business needs.”

Clement Keys will relocate its payroll department, IT, not-for-profit and internal audit services and its administration function to 37/38 Calthorpe Road. The company will be utilising the latest voice and data technology so that the two buildings are able to operate as a single office.

Michael Meakin explained: “By working this way there is no need to alter our administrative systems or procedures and there will continue to be regular face to face contact which promotes good communication between our employees.

“This is a really exciting development for all of our staff, especially for those departments that have seen most growth such as the corporate finance, not for profit, property service charge and internal auditing teams.”

The deal was handled by Matthew Long at DTZ and John Batsford of CBRE.
