The Calthorpe Estate hosts a royal visit - Sep 2006
September 2006
The Calthorpe Estate hosted royalty recently when his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales and her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall visited the new state of the art facility at Elmhurst School for Dance on Tuesday September 12.
Prince Charles and Camilla were both given a tour of the school, situated on Bristol Road in Edgbaston. They met the students and staff from the school and both watched a short ballet performance, including Frederick Ashton's Tweedledum and Tweedledee.
HRH The Duchess of Cornwall has also recently accepted an invitation to become Patron of Elmhurst School of Dance. This patronage by Her Royal Highness gives the School its first Royal Patron in its 106-year history.
The Elmhurst School for Dance has been situated on the Calthorpe Estate for two years after a state of the art five-acre complex was purpose built for the School. Their premises boasts excellent academic facilities including a 250-seat studio theatre, eight large dance studios, a dedicated exercise centre, a theatre workshop and first-class onsite boarding accommodation.
