Calthorpe Estates, the award-winning property development and investment company, has secured an Express by Holiday Inn Hotel for their new £100 million retail and leisure development, Edgbaston Mill, in Birmingham.
The £14 million investment by Starboard Hotels brings a 200 bedroom Express by Holiday Inn hotel to the 450,000 sq ft scheme, situated opposite Edgbaston Cricket Ground. The hotel will be owned and operated by Starboard Hotels under a franchise agreement with InterContinental Hotels Group.

In addition, guests will enjoy a complementary breakfast and have access to a spacious terrace area overlooking Canon Hill Park. Additional facilities include a suite of meeting rooms, bar area and an informal dining offer in the evenings.

“There has been a lot of interest from big brand restaurant operators for the remaining space at Edgbaston Mill, which would very much complement the hotel. We look forward to creating a new destination for the people of Birmingham, delivering quality facilities in a unique environment.
“It is anticipated that work will commence on the commercial element of the scheme in Spring, with completion of the first phase targeted for 2009.”
