Five Ways Security
The Five Ways CCTV scheme became operational in December 1999 with cameras across the Five Ways business area.
The latest improvement to the area’s security has involved a linkage from the Five Ways Security CCTV system into the main Birmingham Citywatch CCTV Scheme. The upgrade means that West Midlands Police are now able to directly monitor activity in the Edgbaston area from a control room in Steelhouse Lane station.
The security CCTV system is managed by DTZ on behalf of Five Ways Security Ltd. Its operation makes The Calthorpe Estate a more secure place to live and work and as such does not make a profit on the charges made.
It is important to note that this CCTV system is not intended to focus on individual premises. The purpose of the scheme is to monitor the public throughways that the general public use everyday from the Five Ways area. This offers greater protection to the many employees who work around Five Ways and its arterial roads.
Calthorpe Estates has also sponsored a set of cycles for the area’s Police team, aiding them in their day to day operations on the Estate and surrounding area.
