Pebble Mill Plans For World-Leading Health and Medical Centre

Pebble Mill is attracting investment and creating hundreds of new jobs as it becomes a world-leading centre of excellence for healthcare and medical treatments.

The new centre that is located off the Bristol Road on Mill Pool Way, just a mile from Birmingham city centre, is set to be the pinnacle of outstanding facilities and skills within Edgbaston Medical Quarter.

Elsewhere on the Pebble Mill site, Bupa opens its new 62-bed room suite care home in March that will have ten special dementia places with numerous lifestyle features, including a pizza oven and roof top garden.

Circle Health is constructing a private hospital that will include adjustable floor plates that can be reconfigured to create different size operating theatres and spaces for patients.

Calthorpe Estates, the scheme developer, has invested in the infrastructure, a new substation, a Tranquillity Garden and has partnered the Environment Agency in a £4 million flood alleviation scheme around part of the site.

This year development will start on the student accommodation with 400 bedrooms that will provide high-end facilities for the growing number of students in the area.

These include plans to open a restaurant and drive-thru coffee shop on site to provide amenities for visitors, which were approved in October 2017 by Birmingham City Council’s planning committee.

Work on these amenities will start shortly now detailed planning has been granted for external landscaping.

Calthorpe Estates will be attending MIPIM in France in March as part of Birmingham City Council’s stand in order to promote EMQ and Birmingham to an international audience.
