BoConcept, the premium Danish designer furnishing brand, has relocated to Edgbaston Village, forming part of the city’s exciting new destination for premium interiors.

Previously based in The Mailbox, BoConcept is set to open the doors of its new permanent showroom, at Harborne Court, Harborne Road, on Monday 12 April, adding to the portfolio of luxury interior and home stores in the area.

Founded by two Danish craftsmen in 1952, part of the original ‘Scandi movement’, BoConcept is now a global lifestyle brand, with almost 300 stores in over 60 countries. One of just 18 showrooms in the UK, and the only BoConcept store in the Midlands, the franchise opened in 2017, becoming a popular furnishing brand for design conscious consumers across the region.

The Danish designed range, with international influences and timeless style, has continued to be in strong demand, even throughout the past challenging economic year. With the desire be located in a stand-alone store, along with beautiful surroundings and easily accessible car parking, BoConcept made the decision to relocate to a 3,000 sq ft unit in Harborne Court, Edgbaston Village on the Calthorpe Estate.

David Brimson, managing director of BoConcept Midlands, commented: “After three successful years at our first home in The Mailbox, we’re delighted to be relocating to our new larger showroom in the heart of Edgbaston Village. The area is fast becoming a prime area for premium and niche independent lifestyle and leisure businesses, not only in Birmingham, but in the wider region, which is why we’re thrilled to call this exciting destination our new home.

“We moved into temporary premises on Greenfield Crescent at the end of last year, and our customers have already commented on how much they liked the area. The new location allows us to create a more experiential showroom for our customers, and we are excited to be taking yet another significant step in the development of BoConcept in the Midlands.”

Matt Long, Director of Commercial Lettings at Calthorpe Estates, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome David and the BoConcept team to Edgbaston Village. The area is a thriving leisure and lifestyle destination and is quickly becoming a popular location for premium interiors, as well as niche and independent businesses.

“Situated at Harborne Court, opposite OKA and Neptune, BoConcept will be in good company, and is yet another thriving business to add to our portfolio of high-end retailers, restaurants and bars.”

Already home to a variety of award-winning independent restaurants, cafes, bars and shops, including the Michelin-starred Simpsons, The High Field and Loki Wine, recent plans unveiled by Calthorpe Estates show the potential for even more al fresco dining and shopping options in the area.

Working with Birmingham City Council, Calthorpe Estates have invested significantly in public realm works to enhance Edgbaston Village. As part of the project, a new streetscape is being created along Greenfield Crescent, complete with easier pedestrian access and reduced traffic. With a vision to create a greener, safer and more accessible Village, the construction work is set to complete in Summer 2021.
