Following the success of its first ever artisan market, Edgbaston Village, on the Calthorpe Estate, will be hosting its next market on Saturday 4 September.

The market, which was visited by around 2,000 people, took place on the newly-transformed Greenfield Crescent which, after undergoing significant streetscape works, is now pedestrianised at certain times of the day.

Visitors enjoyed a selection of locally-produced food and drink, including craft gins and ciders, handmade Brummie pies, vegan sausages and burgers and a variety of cheeses. For those with a sweet tooth, the stalls didn’t disappoint, offering delicious homemade brownies, steamed sweet puddings and fudge.

As well as the wide selection of fresh produce, there were also a number of local craft stallholders. Silver and glass jewellery sparkled in the summer sunshine and several talented artists exhibited their work in different mediums, including digital photography of the local area, enamelled pictures and wildlife paintings on wood.

Haydn Cooper, CEO of Calthorpe Estates, said: “Greenfield Crescent, with its new streetscape and high-quality improvements, provided the perfect backdrop for the inaugural Edgbaston Village Artisan Market. We were blessed with glorious sunshine, and the colourful stalls looked stunning against the period buildings on the Crescent.

“It was such a pleasure to see so many people out and about, enjoying delicious local produce and admiring the varied skills of our talented craftspeople. We’re looking forward to making the Artisan Market a regular occurrence on the Crescent as we further establish Edgbaston Village as a premier leisure and lifestyle destination within the region.”

Following the success of the first artisan market, a second, larger event has already been confirmed for Saturday 4 September. With 40 beautiful stalls selling handmade arts and crafts and with a larger section of locally sourced food and drink produce, the market will be open from 10am to 3pm along Greenfield Crescent, within the heart of Edgbaston Village.

Visitors are being encouraged to plan an entire day enjoying the delights of Edgbaston Village, where there are award-winning places to eat and drink, a superb selection of home stores to browse in, and a wide range of salons offering the latest in beauty treatments.
