Environmental, Social
& Governance

With over 300 years at the heart of Edgbaston, Calthorpe Estates understands the responsibility that comes with curating a long-standing legacy.

As proud custodians, we are committed to conserving our heritage, enhancing the present, and shaping a sustainable future. Our Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategy reflects this commitment, balancing respect for our heritage with an ambition to drive positive environmental and social change, both now and for the future.

We recognise the complex challenges facing the built environment, including the climate emergency and shifting social needs. Our ESG approach is structured around three core pillars: Environment and Climate, People and Places, and Governance and Disclosure. These pillars guide our efforts to make meaningful progress and ensure accountability.

We view ESG as a continuous journey. As the world around us changes, so too will our approach. We remain committed to learning, adapting and working collaboratively with our communities and partners to deliver lasting, positive impact.

Minimising our environmental impact, including the reduction of carbon emissions, is central to our ESG strategy and a key part of our long-term commitment.

Net Zero Ambition

We aim to achieve net zero carbon emissions across Scopes 1, 2, and 3 by 2050.

Energy Efficiency

Through incremental EPC enhancements, we are actively improving energy efficiency and reducing operational carbon emissions across our portfolio.

Adapting Heritage Assets

Our approach values the character of historic buildings while improving their energy performance and evolving them to meet modern operational needs.

Renewable Energy

Solar panels have been installed at Pebble Mill Plot 6C and 5–6 Greenfield Crescent, marking our first renewable energy rollouts.

EV Infrastructure

EV charging points are available at Edgbaston Village and Pebble Mill Plot 6C in partnership with Total.

Sustainable Waste Practices

We are improving recycling rates at our offices and across the Estate through a partnership with First Mile.

Our success is rooted in the strength of our communities, and we are committed to positively contributing to social value, community, and wellbeing across the Estate.
