At Calthorpe Estates we work with our communities and stakeholders to provide connected and evolving spaces for Edgbaston.

The team are place-proud and motivated by our 300-year family heritage. We strive to deliver excellence and distinction for the long-term, whilst responsibly enhancing our environment and making the estate accessible, inclusive, vibrant, and carbon net zero by 2050.


We are motivated by our goal of delivering excellence to create great experiences for those living, working, visiting and engaging with the Estate. Part of our vision is to ensure every building is inherently flexible to provide excellent space for our customers and communities. Place-proud, we are constantly striving to create places to be proud of and which serve our communities across the Estate. We want Edgbaston to be Birmingham’s lifestyle destination of choice.

Sports and Leisure

Calthorpe Estates is the owner of many significant landholdings facilitating a variety of sports and leisure activities including:

  • Edgbaston Golf Club
  • Edgbaston Priory Club
  • Edgbaston Archery and Lawn Tennis Club
  • Edgbaston Croquet Club
  • Central Edgbaston Bowls Club
  • Allotments
  • The school playing fields of nine primary and secondary schools


Engaging with our communities across the Estate and understanding their needs is central to what we do and enables us to evolve and change with our customers and satisfy their new space needs. We strive to provide excellent customer service and regular dialogue helps us accommodate our customers in many different ways.

Through the Calthorpe Business Community (CBC), businesses on the Estate have a chance to meet regularly. Calthorpe Estates coordinates a programme of events that are held at venues on the Estate and enable the local business community to network and catch up on developments in the area.


Calthorpe Estates is committed to enhancing the connectivity of the Estate at all levels, from transport through to ideas. We aim to take an Estate-wide approach, enhancing sustainable mobility, promoting public transport improvements, improving modes of communication and wayfinding. Central to this is enhancing communication with and between our customers.

The team is very active with a number of city partners, including West Midlands Growth Company, West Midlands Combined Authority and Birmingham City Council. By working in partnership, Calthorpe Estates strives to make a difference to the overall regeneration and prosperity of the city and supports inward investment opportunities.


Expanding accessible green spaces and delivering sustainable and responsible developments are at the heart of our endeavours. Property has been central to Calthorpe Estates since its fields began to turn into buildings in the early 1800s and we pride ourselves on evolving our heritage buildings and the Estate to deliver relevant spaces. Every project we deliver has current and future generations’ wellbeing in mind, and with the aim of becoming carbon net zero by 2050.
