Edgbaston Village’s market has officially become the largest Artisan Market in the city, after launching earlier this year.

The monthly market, which will hold its next event on Friday 8 October, has over 40 stalls offering local artisan products and takes place on the new look Greenfield Crescent on the Calthorpe Estate. The last event, which took place in September, was visited by around 6,000 people.

In addition to handmade local food and drink, including Rourke’s pies, Taartie doughnuts and Hussingtree Gin, the artisan offering also includes arts, crafts and gifts. Visitors can browse handmade jewellery, paintings, ceramics and sculptures to name a few, many that are one-off pieces exclusively made for visitors to purchase.

The event forms part of Calthorpe Estate’s commitment to creating Edgbaston Village, a thriving leisure and lifestyle destination in the heart of the Estate, known for its premium home offering, award-winning restaurants, bars and cafes, and relaxed village atmosphere.

Haydn Cooper, CEO of Calthorpe Estates, said: “We were delighted to discover that that the newly launched Artisan Market is now the biggest in Birmingham.

“Following the transformation of Greenfield Crescent, the artisan market is a fantastic way to showcase the best of the area, from handmade produce to our talented artists and creators. We’ve been overwhelmed by the success so far, seeing 2,000 visitors at our first event, followed by around 6,000 at our second.

“The Artisan Market compliments the wonderful independents across the village, which is home to the likes of award-winning Simpsons, Laghi’s Deli and Loki Wine. As it has grown in popularity, we’ve also welcomed new, up-and-coming businesses, such as the newly opened LUX Gallery, and also Chapter restaurant, which is set to open in December.

“The market is yet another way for us to showcase to visitors what Edgbaston Village offers and is one of a number of ways that support, and drive footfall to, the wonderful mix of businesses across the location.”

Visitors are being encouraged to plan an entire day enjoying the delights of Edgbaston Village, where there are award-winning places to eat and drink, a superb selection of home stores to browse in, and a wide range of salons offering the latest in beauty treatments.

The next Artisan Market will take place 10am to 3pm on Friday 8th October. To find out more about Edgbaston Village, please visit edgbastonvillage.co.uk
